Account and data deletion
Delete your ThisBig account and data
This covers the ThisBig app on Android and iPhone and the ThisBig browser extension for Chrome, Edge and Firefox, both made by The Tener's Brand. Here’s how to delete your data, what goes, what stays and for how long.
You only have an account if you signed in with Google or Apple to sync your sizes. Never did? There’s no account to delete: see if you never signed in.
In the app
On a phone signed in to your account:
Open ThisBig and tap the gear to open Settings.
Tap Delete my account, then Delete account.
Your account and everything under what’s deleted are gone at once, for good. Every phone and browser on the account is signed out. What’s saved on the phone stays there.
Want a copy first? Tap Export my data on the same screen.
To delete only your synced sizes and keep the account, tap Delete synced copy. First, under Sync, tap Unlink beside every other phone or browser listed there, or it sends its copy back at the next sync.
In the browser extension
Open the ThisBig panel from your browser’s toolbar and choose Settings.
Choose Sync, then Delete my account, then Delete account.
Delete synced copy, in the same place, deletes only your synced sizes and unlinks the browser.
Send a deletion request
If you don’t have the app any more, or it’s signed out. Give the email address of the Google or Apple account you signed in with.
What happens next
You get a reference number straight away.
You get an email from privacy@thisbig.app asking you to confirm. Nothing is deleted until you reply.
Once you reply, the account and everything listed below is deleted, and you get an email when it’s done.
All within 30 days of your request. If no account uses that address, you’re told that instead. No reply within 30 days? The request is closed and nothing is deleted. You can send a new one any time.
What’s deleted
- Your measurements and sizes: hand, height, feet, body measurements, garments that fit, the spaces and things you’ve measured, and the people you buy shoes for.
- Your history of everything you checked.
- Your account: the name and email address Google or Apple shared, and the sign-in that links them to it.
- What the phones and browsers signed in to the account sent: usage events, the things you checked, the links you asked ThisBig to read, and codes used to link a computer.
Your phone and browser are signed out, not wiped. The app and the extension keep working without an account, and what’s saved on them stays until you delete it there, as below.
What’s kept, and for how long
Deleting in the app or the extension leaves none of this. A request sent from this page leaves:
- Your request: the address you gave, the provider you chose, the reference number and who at ThisBig handled it. It’s kept for 90 days after the request is closed, so you can ask about it, then deleted.
- A line in ThisBig’s records saying which request was done, and when. It has no address, name or measurement in it, and it’s kept as the record that your request was carried out.
If you never signed in
Then there’s no account, and nothing ThisBig holds has your name, email address or phone number on it. That also means nothing you could send would lead to it, so it can’t be found to delete. Here’s what exists, and how to remove it.
On your phone or computer
Everything you measure and save is kept there, not on ThisBig’s servers.
- In the app, open Settings, tap Delete my sizes, then Delete them. Uninstalling the app removes everything it keeps, Recent included.
- In the extension, open Settings and, under Your data, choose Delete all, then Delete everything. Clear all is under Recent. Removing the extension from your browser removes everything it keeps.
On ThisBig’s servers
- A random number for your install, and the key it uses to reach ThisBig. Neither comes from your phone or from any account.
- From the app: usage events, like the brand on a product page, the size it suggested and whether it fit, or a short note of a crash.
- From the app and the extension: each thing you checked, with what kind of thing it was, its size, what it was drawn beside and, when it came from a shop’s link, the link without anything after the ? or #. Never what you typed, and never a picture.
- The links you asked ThisBig to read. The extension sends a product link only when Check unsure sizes online is on, and your corrections only when Send my corrections is on.
- A photo you measure against a sheet of A4 is deleted as soon as it has been measured.
Usage events are deleted 180 days after they arrive, the things you checked after 180 days, and the links you asked ThisBig to read after 90 days. If you corrected a size and that correction hasn’t yet been used to improve ThisBig, it’s kept until it has, without the link and without your install’s number. Your install’s number and its key aren’t yet deleted on a schedule.
Who to ask
